KobeOctober 30, 2009

Hi everyone, Kobe here!  My friend, Ozzy, and I are happy residents of the administrative offices at the Cleveland APL.  We spend a lot of time watching what goes on at the APL, and we want to share all the wonderful things we discover with you!  So each week we will be writing about something new here at the APL.  OzzyI predict I will do most of the writing, because, as you will soon learn, Ozzy, well, his favorite thing to do is sleep.  But when he is awake, I told him he can do the writing!

Ozzy came to the APL because his owner lost his home and just left him outside the door.  He never came back for Ozzy so a kind person brought him to the APL.  Me, well, I lived in a home but my person thought I was too shy and timid for her family.  Ozzy has been officially adopted by our Executive Director, but she has a dog at home that would probably try to take his “squeaker” out so he stays at work, and me, well, I belong to everyone in administration!!  We have lots of people to care for us, even on the weekends, when we have wonderful volunteers who give us tons of attention—and yummy treats!  We have beds and baskets to sleep in and toys to play with in all the offices.  We also have a job!  Ozzy and I are the “official toy testers” for any cat toys that are sold in the APL retail store!  If we give the toys a “paws up,” that mean the APL cats and kittens will enjoy them when they are adopted by their new families.

Here is what is going on this week!  October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month!  We are not sure how we feel about canines, but Ozzy and I both agree, they all deserve the “treat” of being in loving homes.  So this weekend is Howl-O-Weekend!  Dog adoption fees are going to be reduced on Friday and Saturday by $10.31.  You can also purchase a 2010 APL calendar at half-price--$5 rather than $10.

BlueOne of the dogs looking for a new home is Blue.  He is 9 years old and was brought to the APL by one of our Humane Investigators.  Chief Jed, Officer Lisa, and Officer Rob investigate thousands of cases of suspected animal abuse and neglect.  Blue was not being cared for properly, and Officer Lisa brought him to the APL.  Blue has a lot of energy for 9 years old, and he even knows tricks.  As you can see in the picture, he is shaking paws.  That is a very dog thing.  We cats, well we do not believe in doing tricks, unless it is OUR idea.  Blue is a good guy—for a dog—and I hope he gets a new family this weekend.

Sleeping OzzyI will let you know next week how many dogs got adopted during Howl-O-Weekend.  But I am sorry to say we have to go now—Ozzy fell asleep.  Please check back next week when we will have more things to share in “Cats’ Eye View.”

Love and purrs,
Kobe and Ozzy
