. . . I just made an online donation in memory of my sister-in-law's cat. I just wanted to make sure that you were able to mail the donation card to Japan. Also, it's a good story that I wanted to share with you and staff and supporters of Cleveland APL.
About nine years ago, my brother and his wife, Kyoko, adopted a kitten during kitten season from the Cleveland APL and named her Momo. They lived in Cleveland for a few years and decided to move to Japan where Kyoko is from. Being committed and bonded animal caregivers, they took Momo with them (proving that you can move with a pet). The airplane ride was 13 hours long. Momo was in an animal travel book bag under the plane seat; then once in Japan, Momo was quarantined for two weeks for rabies. Her journey was long but well worth it.
Momo died last week due to an internal organ problem. My sister-in-law was obviously heart broken and cried for days. I just thought that it was cool that the tiny, street kitten from the Cleveland APLlived an exotic, well-loved life in Japan. Momo brought so much joy to my sister-in-law and brother.
Through your work, from the intake person, to the vet, to the person who fed and cleaned Momo every day until she was adopted - it all contributed to years of happiness for my brother and his wife. The work that animal welfare workers do is more than helping animals, they help people. So thanks to you and and to all of the hard-working people at the Cleveland APL for helping bring joy to my family.
